More of the pretty city.

Today I got up. I went back into the city to wander around again. It was nice, once again I really enjoyed myself. The city is just a nice place. I mean, as far as cities go. Today I crossed some bridges. Long ago they diverted the river here and turned the entire old river bed into a park. So I crossed the bridge to get to the other side. I went to a park near the city center. It was pretty amazing. A big park with plenty to see and hardly anyone there. People were not in sight every now and then. Which amazes me because its usually such a busy place.
I stumbled into the Natural History Museum. Turns out that Valencia and the surrounding areas are loaded with fossils and bones and all sorts of things.
I found another tower but they charged to climb up this one for some reason. Which is weird. Whats the difference? And the other one had the cannon ball marks so it should have been the one you paid for. Really weird. I didn't pay. I guess I should have because it would have had an awesome view of the river bed and parks etc.
The one thing I did find in the park was a tree that had what looked like thorns. And the flowers were like day lilly flowers. Really beautiful tree. Very strange. I'm going to look it up and find out what it is!
I stumbled onto the big Mercato Central, its been closed every time I go by it so today I got lucky and went inside. It is the hugest indoor market I've ever seen. Puts the Pike Street Market in Seattle to shame! It was huge, full of food. Nothing else. Fruit, vegetable, meat, cheese, wine, spices.
Outside the market there was a stand selling the biggest "skillets" you've ever seen. For paella for a 100 poeple :) I mean, wow. I put one of the photos on here so you could see it.
So, after 4 hours of walking I decided to come back for my own siesta. Since everyone in town closes shop for that time, might as well go take a nap.
Thats my day. Exactly one week left until I meet my brother in Milan. Yeah!!
Upon rereading this it looks like I stumbled everywhere today. Hum...my new word for teh day I guess.

  1. I think that America could learn from other countries. I like the idea of closing up shop for a siesta! Maybe afternoon productivity would be better around here! :)

  3. Siesta is great. I'm not sure about disrupting my day though, siesta can be anything form 2-4 hours so you reopen your shop at 4 or 6 pm adn stay open until 8. So its a weird schedule
