I think this city is glowing

So far Valencia has had a nice rosy glow. The sun is setting behind the city and so it lights up all the buildings which are colorful anyway and turns everything a glowing orange ish color. Very pretty.
So far its been life as normal here. Very strange feeling. Last night we went to Erica's house for a dinner party, it was great fun. A table full of girls. 2 Germans, 3 Hungarians, 2 Americans and a Jack Russell Terrier named Murphy.
This apartment we went to has a great terrace and just as we got there the sun was setting so it was especially nice. You could see all the rooftops from there and everything was so lovely.
We had a great time. Had some mussels and fresh bread and then a seafood soup with potatoe. Oh so good!! We had Mojitos and some yummy wine too. The wine here is so inexpensive. I mean, good enough to drink but still cheap type of thing...you still get what you pay for.
We left her house about 1:30am and came home and crashed. Today was another lazy day basically. We all slept in and then Anita and I walked to the beach this afternoon and had a swim and a read and it was really nice.
The beach is the same as they all are, not as pretty as Majorca but vast! As far as the eye can see basically! The picture doesn't do it justice I noticed either.
On our way back we bought these grilled corn on the cob things that are just cooked on coals and then salted. So good! We are going to have that when I get home. Nothing to it really! I took a picture (of course) so you could see it.
Valencia has been a surprise for me. It just feels like people live here. There is no strip of streets where all the tourists are, even the "market" tents are not full of the normal junk and locals shop them. It very much feels like I am living here. The girls all share the cooking and groceries and do laundry all as one so its very much their community.
Tonight Noemi works until midnight and we are going to meet her after that and have a drink maybe or maybe not. The city center is hard to get to except by taxi after about 10:30 pm. Which is really annoying considering the spanish are up to till all hours. Noemi works in the center so we either make our way to her or she comes here and we go out near by the apartment. Either way it should be just fine.
This Sunday I am going to see some non tourist flamenco dancing. Meaning, its a little place, with a guy doing the music and a girl dancing. Can't wait!! Still haven't found the paella yet, though Noemi knows of a place we'll go for some. They have a place near here where you can get Paella to go!! Who knew! That seems so unusual. But its pretty good food and lots of it for cheap! So that has been my substitute.
So, life goes on. I'll be heading to Milan September 17th. And then my adventure with my brother begins. I can't wait! Until then I'll take a few bus trips to some nearby villages and see a little bit of Spain. Its a big country and so much to see. So different than I imagined before I got here.

p.s. I've taken to spilling again. All summer long I didn't have a problem with drooling, spilling on to strategic places on the shirts, sitting on dirty things. But since I've been to Valencia I've dropped a dark chocolate ice cream on my shirt down onto my shorts, today I spilt milk on myself and just now I drooled on myself. My goodness how embarrassing!! I'm falling apart, reverting to my old ways. I only have so many clothes to stain!
