Finally a tourist in Valencia

Today I finally made it into the city center of Valencia. Its fantastic! It's so amazing everywhere you look and people are just about their lives around here, no matter where you are. Its just so different. I really love it!
I went back to the train station where I arrived and started from there. The tourist map sucks pretty bad because its seems so far away and its all disproportioned so as I'm walking around I run into the buildings I'm looking a mile ahead for. Pleasant surprise don't get me wrong.
I think even Valencianos are in love with their city and the visitors who chose to stay are too. There are people old and young just sitting enjoying their shady spots or their kids playing in the squares. Its much more laid back (if thats possible) people are just out for the sun of it!
I went and visited where Noemi works. A hostel called the Red Nest. Very big place, pretty building. Also I saw (and ate) some really amazing gelato :)
They have a coloseum here as well. That picture just reminded me. I don't know what its for but its pretty neat looking. I forgot to go walk right around it so I'll do that again another day.
I found the Serranos Towers after a bit of wandering. You can walk up the stairs to the top of it. I mean, be careful near the edge there is nothing to stop you from going over. Its amazing they let you just go there and risk your life like that. I had this really bad vertigo of some kind and I could hardly manage. I've never had anything like that before. I had to really hang on to the edges when I got near them and coming up the spiral stairs was a challenge. I think my ear problem must have effected me more than I thought (still not totally hearing out of it). Coming down I decided to take my glasses off. It helped being out of focus (weird I know) but I managed it all just fine coming back down.
I should take notes through out my day because things occur to me and I want to be sure and include them here. I am sure the feeling will come back to me and I'll write it again another time.
Tonight I was sitting here looking out the window and a bunch of fireworks went off and no one else here reacted so I said "Oh neat fireworks" and they all said "oh yeah, every day, fireworks". No big deal. I mean, these are not little street fireworks they are rockets in the air fireworks. Amazing, no one even flinched. I find that funny.
I'm starting another book today. I finished The Life of Pi. Glad I didn't read that before I went sailing into the ocean. I never would have slept!!
Now I'm reading one called The Master and Margarita, I found it on Noemi's shelf. I'm making my way through her books (the english ones, she has Hungarian and Spanish and I think French too) until my brother arrives with Don Quixote. Yeah!!
So until I remember what I wanted to say this will have to do. There is a picture in this bunch of Noemi's hostel. The towers have pock marks in them from the cannon balls. Pretty amazing way to fight back then.
Its 10:36 pm on Tuesday night ( sorry Uncle Stan :) I'm getting ready to get to bed. After some reading anyways. Life goes on here...
