I am on the move again and its terrific fun! My hostel is shaping up to be really nice and I've got things figured out for tomorrow so now I just have to go to bed. Its Friday August 14th. Its about 9:37pm here. I arrived around 4:20 ish and got to my hostel and then walked around the city a bit. Its easy to get around and everything is relatively close by here. I really like it too. Everyone looks so punk and and serious but they are so nice! So far its been great! Tonight was the 18th birthday of this hostel so they threw a party adn invited all of us guests to come have free food and drink! Not a bad deal! I'll upload some photos from my afternoon. There will be more of Dublin when I come back this way Sunday or Monday. Not sure when I'll be back. The girls in my dorm room just got back from a tour of Ireland and they loved Galway, and Kilarney. So we'll see. I'd like to go to Galway and see what I can find.
I am keeping my eye out for the scene from one of my favorite movies, its set here in Dublin somewhere. Not sure where though. I've been to Trinity College and it doesn't seem to be there. I'll keep looking. Having a total mind blank about the name of that movie. Cirle of Friends, thats it!
Yesterday (thursday) Tony and I caught a double decker bus to Blandford and had a tour of a real ale brewery. It was great fun! They do things different, thats why the beer is different. Also a reason why the beer is warmer. According the man on the tour it should be abour 55-57 degrees for the perfect ale. The picture of Tony and I is on the bridge walking to the brewery that day.
This morning I had coffee with Greg one more time before I see him in Portugal. We made plans to meet and he drew me a map of where I was headed. Should be an interesting day that day! I have to get myself around a bit before Greg comes and gets me and takes me to the boat (which will be out at anchor) then we head off from there as soon as its all settled. Should be fun!
Tomorrow morning I get up early and head to the bus station and to Belfast! There have been advertisements everywhere about that Tall Ships Race! I guess Saturday is the open house day and so I am glad to be making it for that. I just looked online to check for a hostel and on one website they were all booked! Or really expensive! Crap! So I found one that had limited availability and I grabbed it. I head there straight from the bus station and drop my bag then head to the Quay to see the ships! Yeah! I can't wait!
My train leaving Poole was cancelled today so I had a minor panic about getting to the airport on time but it worked out pretty good really. Southampton Airport is awesome. I got off the train walked to the terminal found a really small queue (they do love to Queue here~I don't even know how to spell that word!) for Flybe fast bag drop they call it!! You should have seen the line of people waiting to check in! Luckily I had done that already before I got there. I went from 22kg to 12.2kg in weight! Can you believe it! That is alot or weight! (thats my checked bag) Security was pretty slick and then the gates are 1-8 and thats it. Really nothing to it. I really liked it!
When I got to Ireland I was the solo Non EU again. A really nice Irishman asked me about my blonde hair in the passport photo, I told him I went back to natural and he said "oh had enough fun as a blonde?" I said yeah, time to get serious! He said there was always time for that. He was nice. I have a big green customs stamp from him now, green for Ireland. I'm in Ireland!! I can't believe it!
I'll upload some photos and then I'm off to see what the nightlife looks like in Dublin. Then to bed for my early start tomorrow! 2 hours on the bus to Belfast. They are having a special to get there for the tall ships event.
The photo of that church spire is the tourist info center. They converted a whole entire church to Tourist Info. And you should have seen the line of people in there. Oh my gosh! So much stuff in there. It was pretty hilarious!
The other pics are just some around the city. Trinity college, and a main street O'Connell Street. and then a picture of the Hostel Avalon House.
More tomorrow or Sunday. Depending on how busy my day is! Yeah! Can't wait!
