The trip to Palma

So I've just woken up from my nap, still trying to wipe the smile off my face. Its so nice here in Palma! So tropical and breezy and its really nice!

Lets back up though because I wanted to talk about getting out of Barcelona. This morning I got up pretty early and had some breakfast then I decided to walk Las Ramblas again just to give it another try. I left everything behind and went light as a bird. It was really nice! I didn't even look around at teh buildings or anything last time. I was too nervous about pickpockets... this time I found a really amazing market and some awesome buildings and I walked a good distance to see what I'd missed before. They really don't get moving very early. So that was a good last experience for Barcelona.

I caught the Metro and then the train to the airport. It was pretty smooth sailing most of the way. My bag really isn't that big in comparison to others it just seems like it. I was scoping out other bags while I was in the stations etc. It holds up well being handled as checked luggage. Thank goodness. I'll find a post office adn mail half of it to England to get rid of the load. After having walked around here I can see my wardrobe sucks.

The directions to this hostel are pretty hilarious. Once you get to Palma take the #1 bus to a Hotel called Melia Victoria and then walk from there until you see some metal stairs and then they are at the top. ha! Turns out neither bus driver spoke English and the hotel isn't a normal stop for them. So it took some doing to figure out where I was headed. Then I walked past the metal stairs because it seemed to easy and then I had to come back adn go up with all my stuff. Oh man, its alot of stairs!

The hostel isn't far from the waterfront adn I can take the bus to the beach. the only thing at this waterfront is boats...lots of boats! And some big cruise lines where here today too so the tourist information people said that sightseeing buses were packed etc. I'll do that another day.

I walked along the water and ate at Burger King...cheeky I know but I was hungry and the food is garanteed to taste familiar.

My dorm mate is also looking for work on yachts so she has had some good advice for me already, her name is Sylvia, she is British. I am going to tag along with her to Corner Bar, thats where Tony said to hang out and meet people etc. so that should be fun.

I really like Palma! Its very pleasant here and the people are nice. Almost all Spanish people in the markets etc. Barcelona was very international. I'm uploading a few pics I took today. One of the hostel and some of the harbor and Cathedral in the distance.
Tomorrow I'll catch the bus to the beach and maybe take the sightseeing bus around Palma just to get the lay of the land etc. Or I may go dock walking with Sylvia if she'll let me. We shall see. Maybe more later, maybe tomorrow! love this place!
