To the beach June 12

Yesterday afternoon I came out to the veranda here at the hostel and met a bunch of people. Turns out this is a crew house, who knew! That just means there are a bunch of "boaties" here and so far they are all still looking for work. A bunch of girls and guys from England and Australia, one guy from Netherlands. We had a really fun time talking about everything. They all told me there stories and I told them mine. It was such a great time! The are all young, some near my age. There is a couple here from New Zealand that is looking for work, first here then in Antibes France. They are pretty well qualified but looking as a couple so they will have either an easier or harder time, no one is sure.
A few of us decided to walk to Corner Bar. Its not close by here at all! Its right over by the cathedral which is on the other side of the harbor. But it sits in a little square, the place was packed with English people, mostly men, I think all the women went to Agua for ladies night or something. We all decided to buy some beer at the store before we left (they don't use the expression pre func~ but thats what we did) it cost 23 cents per can in the store and 2.5 Euro in the bar. Sheesh! After Corner Bar we went to Agua but we missed the free drinks for ladies. I had to use the restroom so one girl suggested I use the boys...I go into a door and then into another door that locks, the room with the toilet, but alas when I went to go out there was a boy peeing in the urinal. So I had to wait until he was done. A.) I didn't want to surprise him and get peed on B.) there is not room for two people to pass in a spanish bathroom.
That was quite hilarious actually. He never knew I was there.
We walked to another bar called Escape. It was not busy at all. We sat and talked for a while before we walked back home. They have lighting on all sorts of things at night here and its very beautiful to walk along the waterfront. That was about 11:30 pm or so. Things were just getting started. The waterfront is loaded with patio restaurants etc so you can see who is out and where people are headed.
Our hostel is near a place called Tito's which is lit by a huge neon sign, I'm sure you can see it from the harbor! So that is the landmark you look for on the way home.

I'm thinking today I'll leave all my valuables at home and go to the beach without worrying who is walking by my stuff. I'll scope it out and then I can take pictures another day.
This weekend one of the guys here is organizing a big outting. To another part of the island and with a disposable BBQ and everything should be really fun! There are a bunch of people going!
Tonight Ralph from Netherlands is cooking dinner for us. He is a chef and we all pitched in 1.5 euro for him to shop and feed us. Should be interesting! Then we'll all walk down to the waterfront I imagine. The gelato shops stay open late here. I haven't had one but maybe today will be the day.
It was so hot last night to sleep. We left all the windows open all night long (my dormmates are all girls this time). Apparently mosquitos are really bad here but we don't seem to have them in our room (they haven't gotten word I'm staying there yet :) One guy Rob has bites all over himself!
I have to work on my CV and get business cards made up. They do them like a little CV including your photo so you can hand them your card and not a whole sheet of paper. I guess there is a store down the road that does the printing if you need it. So I'll get that done. Everyone here has been loaded with information. How to get into the docks, which ones are better than others etc so i think Monday I'll go for it. They don't work weekends around here. Or so the story goes.
What else.... this place is amazing! I should have come straight here!
This hostel also offers a weekly deal that is really cheap too, so I may stay put. Especially since I've met a bunch of people here already. Though some are moving on soon it sounds like. Ralph said that the season for looking for work officially ends in the end of June.

Today I'm going to the beach and it sounds like some of the hostel people are going there too. So that will be good. There is a really nice old couple here from Sweden. They do alot of hiking and exploring etc.

Okay, I'm off ot the market to buy some food for the week.

By the way, when you are in Spain and you open Google its all in Spanish. Fascinating huh?!
